Why Espresso Machines Cost So Much

by juraespresso on March 28, 2010

One of the biggest complaints that people have about the espresso machine is the cost. Many will say that if the cost were to come down a good bit that there would be more espresso machines in homes. The thing is though; maybe not all of the companies want to lower their prices so that the machines can be afforded by everyone.

Maybe this is what helps the machine to have a bit of class and mystery about them - because not everyone has one. One of the main reasons the makers of the espresso machines are not charging less for their machines is because of the sheer fact that not many are produced each year.

Say for example one company may produce 5,000 espresso machines in any given year. This may sound like a lot but when it is compared up to the 150,000 dishwashers that will be made by Maytag in the period of a year, there really are not that many espresso machines being made.

Another reason the espresso machine can many times be extremely expensive is the fact that they are handmade. The entire machine is pretty complex as it is full of many specialized parts. Just the fact that most of the espresso machines that you find are imported makes a difference in the overall cost of the machine as well.

Of course, the initial price of the machine is not the only thing that you should be looking at. You should be looking at the entire picture. Now, with that said, you may be thinking about purchasing the cheapest espresso machine on the market. Before you do that you will want to think about just how often you will use the machine and for how many years you would like for it to last.

If you think that the cheapest machine on the market is going to last for about twenty years, you might as well just start looking for something else to buy in order to make sure that you are not completely wasting your money.

Even though the more expensive models may seem like a lot more to spend, these are generally the models that will last you the most amount of time and really be a true benefit to you in the long run. As you can easily see, there are many different things that you have to think about when you are taking a look at the prices and the various options of the espresso machine.

If you are looking to buy a machine just to have it - without any real intention of putting it to good use - this purchase may not be the best thing for you. If you are someone that loves their daily coffee though than make sure that you are taking your time and that you are looking through all of the information possible in order to make sure that you are getting the best deal out there for your money.
